As people huddled together to escape the fires on beaches all down the South East Coast of Australia on New Year’s Eve, the soundtrack that they were listening to wasn’t one of celebration or fireworks over the Sydney Harbor Bridge. No! the soundtrack to lead them into a new decade was the screeches of thousands of koalas and other animals burning alive. My wish would be that every “Leader” in this country from Commonwealth, State and Local government be forced to listen to that soundtrack every night before they go to bed. Perhaps then they would start to contemplate on how to be a better leader for all Australians. No more blame passing or putting their heads in the sand pit of denial, just become good leaders. We the people, our environment and native wildlife of this great nation deserve so much better.
